Abstract
514,576. Turbine rotors. KOHLER, G., and BRAGARD,- T. June 1, 1938, No. 16317. [Class 110 (iii)] Rotors of radial flow turbines are made up of several discs of different diameters, the high pressure blades being mounted on the smallest disc and the low pressure blades on the largest disc. In the form shown in Fig. 3, steam enters at 18, is passed from 19 over to 20, is passed from 21 over to 22 and so exhausted after the blade 23. The central and largest disc is integral with its hub which is secured between two shaft portions 24, 25. The other discs are secured on the hub of the central disc. The central disc is curved away from the side carrying the blading. The bladings of Fig. 4 are secured by contact with the minimum of surfaces and elsewhere the rotor is cut away to hinder heat transfer. Between the blade rings, the rotor is protected from the working fluid by rings 13 having clear spaces behind them.
