570,890. Elastic-fluid turbines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 24, 1944, No. 1312. Convention date, Jan. 25, 1943. [Class 110 (iii)] A turbine having a rotor 13 supporting blade-carrying discs for forward or reverse directions of rotation, 14, 15, respectively, has fixed guide vanes 21 for directing the exhaust fluid from either section into a common exhaust 11 leading to a condenser, or elsewhere. The vanes 21 may be flat and inclined at 45 degrees to a radial plane through the centre of the turbine and the inner edge of the vane. Fixed guide vanes 25 direct the fluid exhausted from the reverse section on to the vanes 21. The vanes 21, 25, are supported by the casing.
