Abstract

861,728. Elastic fluid turbine blading. PARSONS & MARINE ENGINEERING TURBINE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION. June 25, 1959 [Sept. 29, 1958], No. 31061/58. Class 110 (3). In an elastic fluid turbine in which the rotor blades each have an integrally-formed shroud element and in which the blades are interconnected in a circumferential group by an annular fin secured to the shroud element, the annular fin constitutes a radial seal between the turbine blading and the bore of the turbine cylinder containing the blading. As shown, each blade a has a shroud element b with a slotted stub c to receive an annular fin d the outer edge of which forms the radial seal. The fin is secured in the slots by rivets e inserted in a direction parallel to the rotor axis. The fin d may be formed in arcuate sections abutting one another, each section embracing and interconnecting a number of blade shrouds.
