Toy guns.-Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 a horizontal section, through the barrel and magazine of a saloon rifle in which the bullets are propelled by being struck by the hammer. The bullets are pushed by the spring follower 5 through a hole 8 into the barrel, and are held by the spring 10 until the spring is pushed aside by the moving hammer 7, which keeps the opening 8 closed after discharge. The hammer 7 is carried on a sectorshaped piece 14 connected to the mainspring 16. The cocking-lever 21 is coupled to the arm 23 which engages a projection 24 on the piece 14. The cocking-lever is at once returned to its first position by a spring. Modifications are described in which the cocking-lever acts directly upon the piece 14. Instead of a pivoted hammer, a longitudinally-sliding hammer may be employed.
