Abstract

To enable the composition of the combustible mixture to be varied, the pistons of the air and gas pumps are given variable travels. The air and gas pumps are respectively driven through rods s, s<1> attached to the oscillating threearmed lever r, v, actuated by the crank k and a connecting-rod. The travel of the pistons is varied by the hand-operated rod p which moves the parallel rods s, s' in guides over the curved portions of the arms u, t, v and u<1>, t<1>, v respectively, the stroke of one pump increasing while the other decreases. The pumps may be arranged so that the stroke of one only is varied.
