Abstract
4053. Rosenthal, J. H. Feb. 18. Marine and water-tube boilers; superheaters, steam.-Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 a plan partly in section of a combined marine water-tube boiler of the Babcock- &-Wilcox type and a steam superheater. A skeleton boiler is formed by four series of pipes B, D, E, and G connecting, as shown, the drum A and headers C, D<1>, and F. The sides of the hollow space thus formed are formed also by inclined water tubes. The superheater is formed by V-tubes J, M occupying the space enclosed by the water tubes and springing from a series of vertical manifolds K which are alternately connected to a steam-inlet pipe L and a steam-outlet pipe L'.
