Abstract

20,139. Fasey, W. R. Sept. 18. Pneumatic wheels; spring wheels.-Tn a resilient wheel for motor and other vehicles, plungers carrying a rim and tyre are free to move against resilient pressure in radial cylinders. The plungers D, provided with rim sections D' carrying a rubber or other tyre E, work airtight in cylinders A fixed between rims B, B'. Air is pumped into the cylinders through valves a<1>. Pins a limit the motion of the plungers, while, should a cylinder be injured or leak, a locking-pin d<3> may be inserted to prevent the plunger from moving towards the centre of the wheel. The wheel may be made in halves from stampings which are bolted together to form the cylinders &c., both sides being alike. The resiliency may be obtained by means other than compressed air. According to the Provisional Specification, the radial cylinders may form the spokes, and are connected at the centre to a chamber by which they may be charged with compressed air, water, or other liquid.
