Tyres, elastic other than pneumatic ; packing, elastic and soundabsorbing.-In a resilient wheel for motor and other road vehicles, a rubber cushion, preferably having lateral holes or consisting of rubber blocks, is secured directly or otherwise between two concentric rims which may be provided with suitable stops to limit relative circumferential motion. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the rubber cushion f is vulcanized or otherwise secured to a ring c formed of or coated with brass, bolted to the felloe b, and to a similar ring e secured between the flanges of the rim l. Bolts o, fitted with distance-pieces z, may be passed through side flanges of the rim l, which may be extended below the felloe to act as guides, as shown in dotted lines at p. In a modification, the blocks are formed with ribs which engage in grooves in flanges on the inner and outer rims. In other modifications, the cushion f may be secured to a channel section metal casing bolted to the felloe, and to an outer metal rim having inwardlyprojecting side flanges.
