Abstract
9353. Birch, G. April 25. Lamp-shade holders for incandescent electric lamps. The connection and disconnection of the shade is facilitated by forming the internally or externally flanged shade holder a in halves or segments, which are pivoted together at g, and, normally, held in a position to support the shade by coiled, bow, or other springs b. Tail-pieces c are provided for expanding the pivoted segments. When the shade holder is formed with external flanges e, the segments may be screw-threaded internally to engage the screw thread on the lamp holder k, or the shade holder a may be formed with projections to engage with recesses on the lamp holder. Several slight modifications are described and illustrated in the Specification in addition to those shown in Figs. 12 and 13.
