Abstract
19,191. St. Helens Cable and Rubber Co., and White, J. C. Aug. 28. Holders. - A corrosion-proof holder is provided with a protecting-sleeve 11 engaging the lamp-cap and screwed into a casing 7, and with means for guiding the conductors in a U-shaped or sinuous path so that they dip into a sealing-medium such as oil, which need not cover the terminals. The protecting - sleeve 11, which conveniently is flanged and milled at its outer end, may be fitted with a rubber gasket or the like for engaging the lamp-cap, and with an external nut 13 for locking the sleeve or securing a shade, or with separate nuts for these purposes. A screw cover 2 and a threaded flange 6 on the socket-piece 10 abut within the casing. The conductors 1 fit tightly in separate holes in ribs, which project inwardly from the cover 2. Beyond the inner end of these ribs, the conductors are curved back to terminals 8 on opposite sides of a lug rising from the socket-piece. A central hole in the cover 2, fitted with a screw plug 3, allows of the introduction of the sealing-medium. A locking-ring may be used for securing the socket-piece in the casing. In a modification, the conductors are led in through tubes depending into recesses in the socket-piece. A twin cable may be led through a single tube or the like and divided at the lower end of the tube. Specification 22,198/13, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], is referred to.
