77. Pielock, E. Jan. 1. Superheaters, steam.-In a locomotive, marine, vertical, or other form of tubular boiler, a superheating chamber a for the steam is arranged, as shown, upon the tubes. The steam above the water enters the chamber by a central pipe c, and divides right and left through successively-narrower compartments, formed by incomplete partitions, whence it is finally led by pipes g to the dome. Water may be sprayed at will into the chamber, to regulate the superheating by its instantaneous evaporation.
