Wood', treating with liquids.-An impregnating- agent for wood comprises one or more fluorides or fluosilicates, or both, and one or more phenols or phenol ethers, or both, with or without substances, such as ferrous sulphate, potassium chromate, or a bichromate in conjunction with an alkali, which prevent corrosion of the apparatus. The mixture is used in the form of an aqueous solution of 1-1.5 per cent strength. A typical composition consists of 75 parts of neutral sodium fluoride, 25 parts of phenols or phenol ethers of high boiling-point, and 5 parts of potassium chromate.
