Abstract

Air and steam pressure sprayers; nozzles for producing whirling sprays.-A spray-producer for providing an intimate mixture of two liquids is fitted with a turbine deflector, removably and interchangeably mounted on the pipe supplying the first liquid, and having straight or curved blades for gyrating the second liquid or comminuting agent which may be air, steam, or the like, and is provided with means whereby the nozzle and the gyrating apparatus are independently adjustable relative to the outlet of the apparatus, to adapt the latter for use with different liquids. The first liquid is supplied through a plug cock 8 to the nozzle 6. The latter is surrounded by a sleeve 13 carrying the turbine deflector 14 whose distance B from the nozzle outlet 6a is controlled by the locking nuts 17 and 18 engaging with the stud 16 carried by the rear flange 7. The nozzle outlet 6a is adjusted to vary its distance A from the outlet of the apparatus, being fixed in position by a screw 10 engaging with the rod 12. The second liquid or comminuting agent is supplied through the casing 1 provided with a throttle valve 2. The nozzle outlet and the deflector are arranged in an inner tube 19 which forms a mixing chamber 20 and an annular passage 21 for a secondary supply of the comminuting agent. The outlets of the casing 1 and the tube 19 are both tapered and their relative position is varied, by means of the pins 22, to regulate the secondary supply of the comminuting agent.
