Abstract
20,006. Sturgess, G. F. Sept. 21. Circular knitting-machines. - Improvements on the right and left needle and needle-beds described in Specifications No. 23,011, A.D. 1895, and No. 3749, A.D. 1897. The tail of the needle is bent back a little beyond the foot, and the thinned springy end is then bent outwards at 3 to form the linking-stem, and then bent parallel with the ordinary stem at 6. The springy tail enables the needle to be withdrawn into the tricks of finegauge needle-beds. Instead of the built-up dial described in the above Specification, the tricks are made bell-mouthed, as shown at 10, the upper part of the trick being slotted to support the needle foot right up to the periphery.
