Abstract
15,227. Schiesser, J. July 11. Circular knitting-machines; knitted fabrics.-In making lining fabrics, certain needles n<1> are made with longer beards than the rest. The binding- thread b is sunk and knocked over all except the long-bearded needles, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The lining thread f is laid by a 1-and-1 lining apparatus as usual ; it is knocked over the shortbearded needles, the tuck presser missing the long beards. The covering-thread o is laid by a second looper-wheel on the stems of the needles n and on the beards of the needles n<1> ; it is then knocked over the short-bearded needles, and then all the old loops e, e<1> are knocked over with a smooth presser, the result being that at the needles n' the lining thread shows on the front, as shown in Fig. 6.
