Battery lamps.-Comprises several constructions of casings for pocket lamps, of the kind wherein one part of the casing can be opened upon a hinge to facilitate the insertion of a battery. The hinge may be arranged in several different positions, for example as shown at 5, Fig. 1, or at 6, Fig. 4, or at 11, Fig. 6, or at 7, Fig. 10, or at 5, Fig. 11, or at 5, Fig. 24. The lens hood 4 may be pivoted or it may be integral with either part of the divided casing. Projections 27, Fig. 11, upon the movable part of the casing serve to lock the lens hood in position. The bottom of the casing may be integral with one side of the casing as shown in Fig. 1, or hinged to it as shown in Fig. 4, or it may be divided as shown in Fig. 11. The hinge may comprise two ears 33, one at each side of the movable part, as shown in Fig. 20. The casing may be locked by a spring catch 26, Fig. 24, engaging an eye 4<a> on the lens hood. Several other modifications are described.
