Abstract
188,345. Jouve, A. E. Nov. 5, 1921, [Convention date]. Motor-cycles; compound vehicles; motors, mounting or supporting.-Two pedal cycles arranged side by side are connected by front and rear transverse frames, the rear frame carrying a motor, so as to form a complete motor vehicle. The rear transverse frame, Figs. 1, 2 and 4, consists of three tubular members A, B, C connected to the cycle frames by cottered socketed joints capable of slight movement controlled by springs. This frame carries a motor m driving a transverse shaft through variable speed friction disc gearing, pinions on the ends of the shaft engaging the ordinary gearing of the cycle. The driving member Ro is adjusted along the engine shaft to vary the speed radio, by means of a connection to the hand lever Le which is pivoted on the transverse shaft. The driven disc Pt is moved into and out of gear by a connection to a handlever La pivoted to the hand-lever Le. 'The front ends of the cycle frames are connected by a bar T. and the front forks are connected for steering by a link J.
