Abstract

275,647. Gislaghi, D. Aug. 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Endless-track vehicles-Comprises a rail-ring cycle or other vehicle having one or more wheels 1 each of which forms a track for the rollers 5, 7 of a frame 4 carrying the engine, driving and controlling gear and the driver's seat, the roller 7 being driven by the engine so as to cause the whole frame to rotate in the wheel, thus disturbing the balance of the latter and causing it to move in the desired direction. The roller 7 rotates in a fork 6 forming part of the main frame. A secondary frame 8 carrying the engine and the seat is pivotally connected to the main frame in the axis of the fork 6 and is controlled for steering by hand-levers 9 and links 10. The pulley 7 is driven from the swivelling frame 8 through a universal joint 11. The wheel 1 comprises an inner rail 3 and a pneumatic tyre 2. Toothed gearing may be used between the pulley 7 and the wheel instead of friction gearing. It is stated that two or more wheels may be combined to form a single vehicle, the wheels being steered simultaneously and to different extents, as required.
