Abstract

188,009. MacGregor, R. March 13, 1922. Driving-arrangements for screw propellers.- Main and auxiliary sets of internal combustion engines driving dynamos are arranged on the deck aft, and normally supply current to main motors for driving the screw propellers and to auxiliary motors for auxiliary services. The auxiliary sets may be switched in to supply the main propelling motors when necessary. A main engine C on the aft deck drives the generator B which supplies current to the propeller motor A. Auxiliary generating sets for lighting, pumps, capstans and the like are placed one on each side of the main engine, and switchboards are provided whereby these engines may supply current to the main motor A.
