Abstract

Controlling superheat.-The superheating of the steam supplied to a turbine is controlled by the temperature variations in the casing of the first running wheel of. the turbine. A thermosensitive device in the turbine casing controls through mechanical or electrical connections the supply of fuel or hot gases to the superheater, or the mixing of saturated steam with the superheated steam. A damper d regulating the passage of hot gases from a boiler furnace through a superheating chamber c is operated by an electric motor f, which is controlled by a switch g connected electrically to a thermostat h in the casing of the turbine b.
