Abstract
187,567. Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon., (known as Sulzer Akt.-Ges., Geb.). Oct. 18, 1921, [Convention date]. Intertubular and water-tube boilers; generating by indirect contact of heated gases.-In apparatus for cooling and utilizing the heat of incandescent coke, in which a gaseous heat carrier is passed in a closed circuit through the coke in a cooling chamber and steam-generating plant, the heat carrier passes in succession through steamgenerating and feed-water heating portions of the plant, which are so arranged relatively to one another that heat cannot pass from the first to the second. In the multitubular boiler plant shown in Fig. 1 the feed-water heater g is arranged beneath the boiler f, and the heat carrier passes first through the internal tubes a of the apparatus and then through flues around the drums. In a water-tube boiler plant the steam-generating and feed-water heating sections are arranged side by side, and each comprises upper and lower drums connected by vertical tubes. The two sections are joined at the upper drums, and the feed-water is supplied to the lower drum of the heating section. In a vertically arranged multitubular boiler the two sections are in a single drum, and circulation of water from the upper steam-generating section to the lower feed-water heating section is prevented by connecting the return pipe from an overhead steam drum to the middle of the height of the water drum.
