Abstract
187,900. Burnet, E. Jan. 20, 1922. Capsules and like closures; cap - stoppers, screw; materials, special, for capsules and stoppers. -A closure for bottles &c. comprises a cap b of aluminuim &c. provided with a central aperture b' in the top and adapted to compress between it and the top of the bottle neck a an elastic washer comprising a layer of spongy rubber c interposed between two ordinary impermeable rubber discs c<1>, c<2>. The closure is particularly adapted for bottles containing vaccine which can be extracted by an hypodermic syringe by piercing the exposed part of the washer by the needle of the syringe. As shown, the cap b has a skirt b<2> compressed by spinning at b<3> to fit under the lip a' of the bottle neck while the cap is pressed downwards, but the skirt may be formed with a screw thread to engage a corresponding thread on the bottle neck.
