Abstract

186,639. Cannon, H. B. March 29, 1921. Liquid, gaseous, and pulverulent fuel furnaces. -A combustion chamber having an horizontal partition 17, extending towards the rear wall, beneath which the fuel is delivered by an injector 10, has outlet openings 22 in its inner face which increase in area from the rear towards the front of the furnace. The combustion chamber is fitted with a baffle or spreader 20 having an angle presented to the entering fuel, and it may have a series of posts 18 supporting the partition 17. It is supported in and spaced from the walls of the furnace chamber so as to heat air passing beneath the bottom and along the sides. It is shown applied for heating an elongated tank 5 in which metal, such as tin, may be maintained in a molten condition.
