Abstract

158,742. Steele, J. H. Nov. 22, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Gas burners, solid-flame; spray burners.-The nozzle 17 of a liquid or gaseous fuel burner for furnaces, ovens, kilns, &c. enters one end of a preferably cylindrical burner block formed with a helical passage 5 and an arc-shaped chamber 9 through which air or ether gas for supporting combustion passes and is delivered in a heated condition to the burner nozzle through ports 13. The block preferably consists of four parts 1 - - 4 which, when fitted together, encloses a cylindrical passage 10 having conical ends 11, 12. The ports are preferably rectangular with the rear wall inclined to cause the air to flow in the same direction as the fuel issuing from the nozzle. Combustion takes place in the passage 10.
