Abstract

A burner for pulverulent, gaseous and/or liquid fuels contains an ignition chamber with a rotationally symmetrical, cross-sectionally diverging wall and an outlet pipe adjoining the latter, and also with a pipe mouth arranged centrally in the chamber wall for supplying a fuel jet and, surrounding this mouth, a turbulent air inlet for supplying rotating combustion air which, in the ignition chamber, forms a hot recirculation flow which mixes through the fuel jet and heats the latter to ignition temperature. By virtue of the fact that the burner is adapted in such a manner that only a proportion of the combustion air required overall can be introduced via the turbulent air inlet 50 as turbulent air B into the ignition chamber 20, that there is arranged in the region between the chamber wall 8 and the outlet pipe 17, 11, 17' a second air inlet 60, via which a further combustion air proportion C, which is completely or partly likewise mixed through with the fuel jet A, can be introduced into the ignition chamber 20, and that the sum of the combustion air proportions involved in the mixing-through with the fuel jet inside the ignition chamber 20 is adjusted to a maximum of 50% of the combustion air required overall, a burner is obtained which has a stable ignition in the case of mean performance and variable conditions also, and which produces a long narrow flame shape with low radial spread in the combustion chamber. <IMAGE>
