Abstract

156,941. Lumb, W. Oct. 27, 1919. Spray burners; vaporizing-apparatus; oil supply.-A liquid-fuel burner consists of a tube having an atomizing-chamber A supplied with liquid fuel from a pipe E in front of a steam jet from a pipe F, the oil and steam passing through converging nozzles G to a mixing-chamber L, cold air being drawn in through a valve J and the mixture issuing from diverging passages in a spraying-nozzle C. A hot-air inlet opening into the chamber A may be employed. The oil may be vaporized in vessels 1, Fig. 6, surrounded by steam jackets 2, and also by being passed through coils of the pipe E projecting into the furnace. The air is heated by passing through coils of a pipe P in the boiler flues. In another form, the oil preheater consists of a tapered tube surrounded by a steam jacket.
