Abstract

186,499. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Aug. 25, 1921. Vacuum tubes.-A grid or other electrode for an electron discharge device or other apparatus is made by applying narrow wire helices 4 to a large helix 1 so that the turns of the large helix are spaced by the desired number of turns of the small helices, and then threading a rod 6 through each small helix, thereby locking it to the large helix. Alternatively, two rods may be threaded through each small helix, one on each side of the turns of the large helix. The structure may be supported by the locking-rods 6, or the ends of the large helix may be bound by wires 12 to rods 7-10, attached to a sleeve mounted on a stem of the vacuum tube.
