Abstract
185,722. Arter, R. C. Sept. 8, 1921, [Convention date]. Electromagnetic switches.-Relates to a vibrating circuit interrupter to be used, for example, in a signalling device wherein a telephone bell is rung at definite intervals. As shown, the interrupter winding 3 receives current to attract the armature 4 and set it in vibration, since the slow-acting solenoids 12, 13 are de-energized. But this vibration, by completing circuit at 7, 9 and 7, 8, energizes these solenoids to break the circuit of the winding 3 and complete the signalling circuit 14. As the vibrations die down, the fixed contact 8 being the farther from the moving contact 7, the solenoid 13 is first de-energized, so that the signalling circuit is broken before both solenoids 12, 13, by releasing their back armatures, restore the original conditions. The contacts 8, 9 are adjustable by means of screws 10. and the core 2 has a non-magnetic sleeve 6 to prevent sticking. A copper ring or sleeve on the core of the solenoids 12, 13 renders them slowacting.
