Abstract
Propylene thiohydrin or propylene-ethylene thiohydrin or mixtures thereof with ethylene thiohydrin are obtained by action of alkali sulphides on propylene chlorhydrin (obtained from propylene and hypochlorous acid) or a mixture thereof with ethylene chlorhydrin; examples of the process are given. Thiohydrins may thus be prepared from olefinic gas mixtures such as oil-gas, Blau gas and certain natural gases. The products being solvents for organic dyestuffs, are of value in printing.ALSO:Propylene-thiohydrin or propylene-ethelene thiohydrin or mixtures thereof with ethylene thiohydrin, obtained by action of alkali sulphides on propylene chlorhydrin or a mixture thereof with ethylene chlorhydrin, are solvents for organic dyestuffs, and of value in printing.
