183,895. Matthewman, W. March 30, 1921. Valve-gear.-Air for the carburettor is drawn from the crank case through the hollow piston-rod, the crosshead-guide chamber, and the timing case. The air carries oil-fog for lubricating purposes. Fig. 1 shows a twin-cylinder doubleacting engine the valverods 19<1>, 21<1> of which are operated from a cam 25 through tappets 22, 23 pivoted on a spindle 24.
