Uniting by fusion. - An electrode for use in electric arc welding formed of steel, manganese, tungsten &c. has a thin coating of the kind described in Specification 144,333 (as distinct from a coating of inappreciable thickness of the kind described in Specification 122,606) of sodium cr potassium silicate, and barium carbonate. The coating is put on by smearing or dipping the electrode, and colouring-matter may be mixed with the coating.
