Turning.-Lathe tools are clamped by an electrically-actuated device comprising a reversible motor 1 controlled from a switch 2 and driving through a clutch 7 a worm 10 engaging a wormwheel on a spindle 13 working in a swivelling nut on a lever 15, which is pivoted on a spindle 19 and carries a swivelling clamping-pad 16. When clamping the tool 18, the clutch is arranged to slip when a predetermined pressure is attained, while for unclamping a positive drive is provided.
