Abstract
183,250. Thompson, H., and Thompson, S. H. April 20, 1921. Slabs.-Double walls are built with concrete or like slabs A having at their vertical edges, on the inner face, thickened portions formed with half grooves Y of fish-tail section, the complete grooves formed when the slabs are in position being engaged by locking-bars L which are slid vertically into position. The locking-bars have flanges F with bevelled faces, the thickness of the flanges being less than the depth of the grooves, whereby the slabs may be adjusted to bring their faces into a plane. The locking-bars are made in sections, and are arranged so that their ends abut between the upper and lower edges of the slabs; transverse-air passages P are provided in the bars to connect the air spaces between the inner and outer slabs. The vertical edges of the slabs are formed with interlocking grooves and tongues X, Z of dovetail shape; the grooves and tongues are emploved both in straight portions of the wall and at corners. In order to form reveals and jambs for door and window openings, slabs are employed having one extremity returned as shown at R. Fig. 4, whereby a full groove is formed to receive the locking- bars.
