Abstract

182,936. Lavoie, A. J. April 13, 1921. Valve-gear.-The cam shaft 7, crank-shaft 2, and intermediate shaft 21 are mounted in bearings arranged in a straight line slightly out of the vertical and secured to the same block 4 integral with the cylinder casting 5. The cam shalt 7 is flanged at 9 for the attachment of the gear 1 by bolts 10, the bearing 6 being secured to the top of the block 4. A pin 12 inserted in the end' of the shaft 7 bears against a spring bar 13. The intermediate gear 3 is bolted at 23 to the shaft 21, the bearing 25 of which is attached to a projection 26 on the block 4. An adjusting- screw 34 bears against a plate 33 inserted in a recess in the end of the shaft 21. The shaft 21 also drives the oil-pump gears 31, and the gear 3 drives the cooling-fan, generator. water-pump, magneto, and distributor by means of a pinion 37.
