Pistons; cooling; reducing wear; connecting- rods.-In an internal-combustion engine the connecting-rod 5 is formed with a slot in the plane of its oscillation to enable it to clear a stationary oil pipe 7, discharging oil through nozzles 9 into the interior of the piston. The angular position of the pipe 7 is adjustable by means of an arm 14 having a slotted head secured by a bolt 10. A sleeve 18 of cast-iron &c. is secured to the piston body, which is of steel.
