Compound or articulated road vehicles; couplings.-In order to enable an adjustable proportion of the weight of the trailer to be transferred to the driving-wheels of the tractor, without depriving the trailer of mobility in the absence of a tractor, the trailer platform g is mounted adjustably on the frame e that connects the axles of tractor and trailer. The supporting-point f can be shifted, by the screw spindle i, for example, so that the distribution of the load between the tractor and trailer can be adjusted as required, and when the trailer is disconnected the supporting-point can be moved behind the axle c in order to balance the weight of the coupling-frame.
