Abstract

180,573. Fellowes, W. E. June 15, 1921. Endless - track vehicles.-A flexible metal band b of greater circumference than the wheel is provided on its inner surface with a pluralitv of rows of blocks c, g, of wood or other material, ar ranged in staggered relation so as to provide a continuous track ior the tread of the wheel. In the construction described, three rows of blocks are provided, the outside rows consisting of pairs of blocks c cprosite each other and spaced circumferentially. The blocks c are rigidly screwed to the band b and are provided about the middle with trar.sverse pins f on which are pivoted at one end the blocks g of the central row, the other end having a sliding fit between the adjacent pair of side blocks. The track is maintained on the wheel laterally either by side flanges on the wheel rim or by sectional flanges on the blocks c. The band b may be fitted with a band h of rubber and metal wearing plates i, and the blocks may have wearing plates j. As applied to a twin tyre, the band is made of double width and a central sectional flange is provided to take between the two tyres.
