Abstract

219,909. Wight, H. C. B. April 10, 1924. Temporary rims for adapting agricultural machine and like wheels for use on roads.-An auxiliary tread for enabling the wheels of agricultural vehicles to travel over made roads consists of tread blocks 3 lying between and abutting against the cleats or like projections 2 on the wheel rim and secured to the rim by detachable clamping means. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the clamping devices consists of bars 6, 7 bolted to the tread blocks, the bars 7 having hooked ends 10 engaging one side of the rim and the bars 6 being bent at 11 to embrace the other side of the rim and formed with hooks 12 forming a channel for a contractible retaining band 13. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the tread blocks are separately secured by two hooked bars 7 engaging the sides of the rim and bolted to the tread blocks, which may comprise, a rubber part 4 secured to a base 5 of wood, or may consist wholly of rubber vulcanized to a metal base.
