Abstract

179,926. Soc. Rateau. May 14, 1921, [Convention date]. Four-stroke-cycle engines.-In engines wherein the exhaust is effected in two stages, the second stage being to a space at a lower pressure than the space into which the exhaust passes during tha first stage, the exhaust from the first stage is used to drive a turbo-compressor for supercharging the engine. Two valves or two sets of valves are used to control the exhaust the second stage taking place after the valve or set of valves controlling the first stage has closed.
