178,402. L³bbertsmeier, F. April 14, 1921, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Vacuum closures.-The lid of a preserving-glass &c. i.s closed by a vacuum produced by a pump having a socket, closed at the top, engaging the lid and connected by a tube to the upper end of the pump so that a vacuum is formed in the socket on depression of the plunger, the lid being formed with an opening provided with a closing- piece which is lifted by the vacuum. Fig. 2 shows the lid 18 fitted on the glass with a packing ring 19 interposed, and formed with an opening 21 in a recessed portion closed by a stopper 22 and a washer 23.
