Combinations of interdependent valves.-Mixture from a carburettor and supplementary air pass by way of pipes D, d<4> through a multitubular vaporizer A and mix as they escape into the induction pipe H of an internal combustion engine. The air valve, Fig. 4, comprises a casing c<3> with four radial slots c<4> which are controlled both by a sleeve c<9> and a plug c<5>, The sleeve is permanent]y adjusted and has four ports c<10> of different lengths so that any number of ports c<4> may be uncovered at one time. The plug c<5> is connected through adjustable linkage c<1>, f<4>, f<3> with the throttle valve F in such a way that the air valve is closed when the throttle is closed and when it is fully open. A modified form of air valve is described with a longitudinally movable sleeve which shortens all the ports c<4> simultaneously and also controls them by being oscillated by its connection with the throttle valve.
