268,818. Hanocq, C. April 3, 1926, [Convention date]. Two-stroke-cycle engines; cylinders, cooling. -In an engine having pairs of cylinders arranged in V-form with a common combustion chamber, piston - controlled inlet ports b being provided on one cylinder and piston-controlled exhaust ports on the other, the inlet ports are controlled by a sleeve a slidable and rotatable around the engine cylinder for throttling the supply of combustible mixture at low speeds in order to prevent loss of mixture through the exhaust ports. The sleeve a is actuated by a rack t engaging teeth on the sleeve, which has an inclined slot i engaged by a pin p in the wall of the cylinder casing q. Specification 246,852 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a revolving-cylinder engine having a number of such pairs of cylinders arranged radially. A sleeve such as a, or one having a sliding motion only may be employed on the inlet cylinder of each pair, or the supply of combustible mixture from a circular conduit to each of the inlet chambers d may be controlled by a butterfly throttle valve. The two cylinders of each pair are relatively displaced in the axial direction of the crank-shaft in order to facilitate air cooling. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
