Abstract

177,364. Bell, W. T., and Taylor, G. Feb. 24, 1921. Openers &c.-In apparatus for extracting the fibres from the refuse of decorticating and like machines, the refuse is passed from a hopper 13 down a rigid wall 11 over which and in engagement with which passes a series of pins 10 on endless bands. The fibres are carried away by the pins and removed therefrom by fingers 18. The refuse escapes through a grating 14 on to a travelling endless band 20. Water may be supplied to the apparatus through pipes 15, 16, 17 to assist in the separation of the fibres. The pins mav be mounted on a cylinder working in a trough arrangement through which the refuse is passed.
