Friction gearing. - According to the parent Specification, driving and driven friction pulleys 1, 2 are connected by rollers 3, 4 carried by spindles 5, 6 spring pressed together and supported in a floating frame. According to this invention, the distance between the pulleys 1, 2 and the size of the rollers 3, 4 are so adjusted that one of the rollers becomes wedged between the pulleys and the necessary frictional pressure is assured. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the spindles 5, 6 supported relatively-slidable frames 8, 7 are pressed together by a spring 10. In the form shown in Fig. 3, these spindles are supported in frames 12, 15 hinged together at 18, pulled together by a spring 10, and adapted to be separated by a lever 20. In each form, a fork 25 prevents lateral displacement. The invention is applicable to machine tools and to agricultural machinery.
