Controlling variable-speed gearing.-The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the feed-operating sprocket of a mining machine is driven through fast and slow gearing controlled by two friction clutches operated by rollers carried by pivoted levers 107, 108, engaged respectively by relatively-slidable rods 112, 111, which rods have oppositely-threaded half-round ends engaged by a single doublethreaded nut 118, rotation of the nut causing opposite movement of the rods 107, 108 and clutches. This subject-matter now forms the subject matter of Specification 241,953.
