Abstract

318,658. Bond, E. S. June 6, 1928. Drawing wire; tongs and grippers. - A continuous wire drawing machine has the intermediate drawing drums d, e carried by shafts o, p which are adapted to be independently clutched to the driving gears r, s to facilitate the threading of the dies. The clutches w, y are controlled by treadles. The final drum k is intergeared with the remaining drums and is driven through a clutch controlled either by a lever 1 or by a treadle 2. The drums are provided with guide channels 12 and with recesses 11 housing drawing tongs 7. The dies 3 are mounted in boxes 4 formed with troughs for lubricant, the boxes being carried by levers 5 pivoted at 6 to the frame to allow self-alignment of the dies to take place.
