Converting rotary into oscillating or reciprocating motion. -To provide for reciprocation of thread guides in knitting- machines with two sets of cams 11, 12 diametrally arranged and revolving in opposite directions thread guide rings 3, 4 are driven, frictionally or otherwise, by rollers 5, 6 on shafts 16, 17, the lower ends of which carry rollers 7 - - 10 operated by flanges 13, 20 revolving with the cams 11, 12. The flanges overlap somewhat so that one flange begins to bear on and drive its roller as the other flange leaves the other roller on the same shaft.
