Abstract

528,158. Drying fabric webs. GESSNER AKT.-GES., E. April 28, 1939, No. 12813. Convention date, May 14, 1938. [Class 34 (i)] In the drying of fabric webs 15 in a drying chamber 5 housing an endless conveyer 8 having rotatable cross bars 17, the top run of which supports the fabric, and also housing a feed mechanism 14, two alternatively operating mechanisms are provided for driving the conveyers at different speeds the rates of which form loops or practically no loops respectively. The conveyer is preferably driven at the two rates by gear trains 9 and 10 (not shown) having clutches 11 and 12 (not shown) brought into engagement therewith by a rod 13. The loops may be supported and their lengths regulated by the method described in Specification 528,157.
