Abstract

259,042. White, A. E., (American Wiremold Co.). Oct. 20, 1925. Braiding-machines. -To permit of the use of a very large number of yarn supplies in a high-speed machine the inner supply carriers 32 are supported partly by shoes 33 travelling in a recess 34 in a revolving drum 5 and partly by rollers 35 running on the top of an inner fixed drum 4 or on a spider frame 28 attached to it. The carriers 32 are driven round by rollers 30 carried by shafts on which are gears 27 engaging a rack forming part of the frame 28. These shafts are mounted on a driver disc which rotates the opposite way to and at the same speed as the drum 5. The outer carriers 42 are mounted on the drum 5 and provided with brakes 47. Rollers carrying paper, tape &c. for covering a core may be mounted within the large central well of the drum 4. A number of braiding units may be superposed.
