Abstract

228,719. Frederickson, O. A. Feb. 26, 1924. Braiding-machines with radially arranged inner yarn carriers 8 and with annularly arranged outer carriers 24 revolving in the opposite direction have the inner end of each carrier 8 supported by a roller 9 thereon engaging a track on a fixed disc 10, while the outer end is provided with an integral or attached flat shoe 41 sliding in a groove 42 in the rotary drum 28. The carriers are driven by rollers 13 thereon being pushed by rollers 14 fixed to spindles 15 carried in brackets 16 on a rotating plate 17, the rollers 14 being rotated by pinions 23 on their spindles 15 engaging a rack on the underside of the fixed disc 10. The drum 28 and plate 17 are rotated in opposite directions by a driving pinion 20. The shoes 41 are curved to the curvature of the drum slot 42 and are of substantial length as compared with the width of the vertical drum slots 37 through which the outer yarns pass.
